1. Greed - people who only want to win the jackpot prize, and they believe they can achieve this by buying a single lottery ticket once or twice a week. Well there is just a miniscule chance of this happening with odds of 14 million to one against you. If you buy a ticket in the Lottery for a bit of fun, that‘s fine. But if you truly want to win the Lottery, you must take a more scientific approach.

2. Impatience - people who want to win it today. They are not prepared to plan for a win on the lottery. People who have any understanding of the Lottery will tell you that you have to plan for the long term if you hope to win any prizes on the lottery.

3. Lack Of Knowledge - people who don‘t understand how the Lottery works. The vast majority of people simply don‘t know the basic rules for selecting their lottery numbers. The variety of systems people use to play the Lottery are almost as numerous as the number of players. Some systems are as simple as selecting ‘hot’ or ‘cold’ balls that is whether the particular balls have appeared regularly or recently and whether they are likely to be drawn again.

4. No Systematic Approach - there is no consistency in the way people select their lottery numbers. Most lottery players are totally irrational in their approach to the Lottery. Not only do they select numbers unlikely to win, they constantly change them, and they vary the amount they invest each week.

5. Superstition - also plays a large part in the way people select their lottery numbers. For example, the lottery numbers up to 31 are popular because people use calendar birthdates as part of their selection. There is plenty of evidence to suggest that not only do these methods not work, based as they are on hope, not science, but that such selection methods actually reduce your chances of winning a big prize.

If you use horoscope or tarot readings, or have been given some lucky numbers by a psychic, research shows that the clairvoyants who give you these tips have no more idea than you on how to select winning numbers. At best, all they can give you is a random selection of lottery numbers with a little hocus pocus added in. It’s often no better than having a Lucky Dip and letting the Lottery computer make your selection.
